During my residence at the Palais de France in Istanbul, November 2019, I discovered the mosaics (1321) of the Church of Saint-Saveur-in-Chora which depict the same scenes from the life of the Virgin as the miniatures of the Homilies (12th century). This apocryphal episode of her life is called the “Presentation of Mary in the Temple”. The main architectural element of these scenes is the ciborium which is a construction with a canopy resting on four columns. Its objective is the protection and enhancement of an altar. This altar is represented as a table covered with a red cloth. The ciborium represents the archetype of the temple which refers to the Holy of Holies of Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem.

Elevated throne in Islamic Architecture and Miniatures
This elevated throne also appears in Islamic miniatures which depict scenes taking place inside mosques. In Islamic architecture, this architectural element is called the minbar. From left to right, an Ottoman miniature representing the Prophet Mohammed at the top of the minbar (Museum of Islamic and Turkish Arts, Istanbul, Siyer-i Nebi, TSMK 1976, folio 225) and two Arabic miniatures in another manuscript of the Sessions (BNF, Paris, folios 18v and 58v).
